Evening & Dinner Dress Plates from Feb. 1843 Lady’s Cabinet Dinner Dress. Rose-Coloured satin robe, the corsage a three-quarter height, and tight to the shape, is slightly peaked behind, and very deep so before; it is trimmed with a round pelerine, of a perfectly novel kind, for which we refer to our plate. Short tight sleeve, ornamented in a similar style, with the addition of a knot of ribbon. A garniture, corresponding with the pelerine descends in the form of a broken cone down one side of the skirt. The head-dress is a black velvet chapeau toque, ornamented with a long white willow plume. Evening Dress. Robe composed of gauze de Chypre, the corsage moderately low and square at top, and deeply pointed at bottom. Short tight sleeve, entirely covered by a round pelerine of blond Valenciennes. Bonnet Marie Antoinnette, it is composed of blonde lace, and made without a caul; the lace forms papillons of the sides, and descends a little over the forehead, where it is surmounted by coques of rose ribbon; roses without foliage are placed in the papillons, and clusters of ends of ribbon float from under them at each side. The hair is arranged in a full bow behind, which is sustained by an ornamental comb. |
